Hey folks, how's it going? Sorry I'm late with this latest podcast-I've been trying to shake off this cold. It has been kicking my butt all week while I'm trying to get things done. I've been watching a lot of YouTube clips featuring bands and musicians, mostly from the '70s and '80s. The exception is a recent band called "Dirty Loops," who are pretty amazing. I will definitely feature a clip of them in the next podcast. On a more somber note, I recently learned that Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91. It's truly a loss, but we must celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. His influence was immense, and I remember aspiring to follow in his footsteps when I was younger. The unforgettable theme songs he wrote for classic TV shows like "Ironside" and "Sanford and Son" showcase his talent, not to mention his time as Frank Sinatra's music director-what a powerhouse! If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend watching the documentary "Listen Up: The Life & Times of Quincy Jones." It's a must-watch and might even be available on DVD. Additionally, I stumbled upon an incredible video clip on YouTube featuring the talented bass player TM Stevens. Though he sadly passed away earlier this year, his performance will leave you speechless! You've got to check it out; his mastery of effects, slapping, and even scat singing over the bass is absolutely mesmerizing. Don't miss the chance to experience this musical brilliance! Hey and how is everybody doing this week .Everyones doing good i hope . Had to take a couple of days out to take a break to recharge the batteries so to speak you know how it is when one gets busy . Also before i forget on this weeks youtube clip i thought that i would feature Victor Wooten .This clip features him and his brothers performing at the Neighbourhood Theatre in Charlotte North Carolina. But you need to check out his Bass Guitar Solo . All that i have to say about Victor Wooten is that he is'nt human and that he's an alien from some other planet out there in the universe. I have to ask myself where does he get the muse to play the stuff he's playing ? He's bloody incredible. Or maybe they just were'nt the dancing type. Hey hows it going hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend it could'nt come sooner for me mate. I'm still working on brand new tracks for another album at the moment .I noticed that while i'm in the process of creation and laying down tracks and taking a breather i find myself checking out other bands on youtube especially bands from the 80's .I had completely taken it for granted as to how much good music there was in the 80's especially from the uk .I was listening to bands like Go West and Bruce Hornsby for starters .
